What is Chat Rewards?​

A Discord bot that gives members credits for chatting. Members earn credits in active channels and spend them in your server's shop on roles and perks.

Is Chat Rewards free?​

Yes. The core features are free. Premium unlocks higher limits and extra customization.

How do I add it to my server?​

  1. Invite the bot
  2. Select your server and authorize
  3. Run /setup to configure

Where do I get help?​

Setup & Configuration​

Do I need to configure anything after adding the bot?​

Yes. The bot won't track messages until you add at least one active channel. Run /setup to walk through the basics.

Can I change settings later?​

Yes, all settings can be changed anytime using individual commands.

How many channels can be active?​

  • Free: up to 10
  • Premium: unlimited

Earning Credits​

How do members earn credits?​

  • Random drops from chatting in active channels (common, epic, legendary)
  • Answering chat drops (trivia events)
  • Daily credits (every 100 messages, up to a server-set daily cap)
  • Voting for the bot at /vote (up to 600 credits/day)
  • Server boosts (if boost rewards are configured)
  • Completing quests

Do credits carry over if someone leaves and rejoins?​

Yes. Credits and stats are preserved.

Shop & Economy​

What can I sell in the shop?​

Discord roles. Common ideas: cosmetic color roles, access to exclusive channels, tier/rank roles, event roles.

Can members get refunds?​

Members can refund a purchase within 60 seconds. After that, sales are final.

What if the bot can't assign a role?​

Check:

  1. Bot has Manage Roles permission
  2. Bot's role is above the shop role in the role list (Server Settings → Roles)
  3. The role still exists

Chat Events​

What are chat drops?​

Interactive trivia questions that appear randomly in active channels. First member to type the correct answer wins credits.

How do chat flurries work?​

Short bursts where reward spawn rates are temporarily multiplied. Automatic flurries last 10–15 seconds with a 10–25x spawn boost. Admins can also start manual flurries with /spawn chat-flurry for up to 60 seconds (free) or 180 seconds (premium).

Can I add my own questions?​

Yes. Use /chat-drops create to add custom questions. See Custom Chat Drops.

Leaderboards & Stats​

What leaderboard types are there?​

Three types:

  • credits — highest credit balance
  • chat_drops — most chat drops answered
  • quests_completed — most quests completed

Run /leaderboard to view them.

Can members hide from leaderboards?​

Yes. Members use /opt-out to stop earning rewards and hide from leaderboards.

Moderation​

How do I stop someone from earning?​

/blacklist @member add

Blacklisted members can't earn credits, answer chat drops, or interact with the bot.

How do I give or remove credits manually?​

/credits add @member <amount>
/credits remove @member <amount>

How do I reset all credits in my server?​

Run /credits purge. You'll need to type your server's name to confirm. This is permanent — it deletes all member credits in your server and cannot be undone. Only users with the Administrator permission can use this command.

Technical Issues​

The bot isn't responding​

Check:

  1. Bot is online (green status)
  2. Bot has permissions in the channel
  3. You're using / slash commands (not prefix commands)

Members aren't earning credits​

Verify:

  1. /active-channels view — channels are added
  2. /rates view — rates are above 0%
  3. Member isn't blacklisted or opted out

Chat drops never appear​

Check:

  1. Chat drop rate is above 0% (/rates view)
  2. At least one active channel is configured
  3. Bot has Send Messages permission in the channel

Premium​

What does Premium include?​

Higher limits, more customization, and server statistics. See the full breakdown at chatrewards.xyz/premium or in Premium Features.

What is Whitelabel?​

Whitelabel is the top tier. It includes all Premium features plus the ability to customize the bot's avatar, name, banner, and bio. It also disables vote rewards and voting reminders.

How do I activate Premium?​

After purchase, link your Discord and Patreon accounts at api.chatrewards.xyz/patreon/login, then run /premium in your server and click Activate Premium. See Activation for full steps.
